Lynnhaven Society
Lynnhaven Society is committed to providing quality, geared-to-income housing for low-income, single adults over 55+ who can live independently. We have moved into our new Abbotsford location and are proud to offer new furnished units for rent.
The Lynnhaven Society is a registered non-profit housing organization, governed by a volunteer board of directors.
We believe that housing is a basic necessity for everyone, and that everyone deserves a place they can call home.
The Lynn Ave homes were originally built in 1957 to house veterans and their spouses returning to the Abbotsford area. The 2.5 acres on Lynn Ave in Abbotsford by members of The Royal Canadian Legion, Branch15, Abbotsford. Although members of the Abbotsford Royal Canadian Legion originally founded the Lynnhaven Society, the society has always acted as an independent not-for-profit society. Over the next 25 years, the society, with the help of many volunteers, expanded the facility to 8 buildings with 40 bachelor and one-bedroom suites.
Although Lynnhaven is no longer a part of the Royal Canadian Legion, Lynnhaven has continued to live up to the same mandate set forth in 1957:
In early 2000’s, Lynnhaven came to realize that the housing facility on Lynn Avenue would not be able to sustain the growing need for affordable housing for seniors in the Fraser Valley. Through partnerships with BC Housing and Canada Mortgage Housing Corporation, the City of Abbotsford and Algra Bros. Developments, Lynnhaven Society took the first step in ensuring the future success of the society and began working towards developing a new housing facility.
We are pleased to announce that we have moved to a new facility on Braun Avenue, Abbotsford. The two buildings have 32 apartments that will allow the society to continue to provide affordable housing for the Fraser Valley’s seniors for another 60 years.
