Daughters & Sisters Addiction Treatment for Teen Girls

Daughters & Sisters is a unique, six-month residential treatment program that serves young women who are 12 to 18 years of age, whose substance use is problematic. Program participants live with Family Caregivers in the community and participate in day, evening and weekend programming at our treatment centre.

Programming includes individual and group counseling, parent-teen mediation, teacher-supervised education, addiction awareness learning and practical life skills. A range of social, arts, cultural and recreational activities are integral components of the program and take place in the community. Daughters & Sisters provides an opportunity for participants to address their addictions issues and other needs, in a stable, caring and supportive setting.

We follow a strengths-based and culturally sensitive approach to treatment, and emphasize solutions focused interventions that help participants to build the skills and competencies they need to live safe, fulfilling lives. We have provided these services since 2000.

To help ensure a successful transition back into their communities, we provide the young women with reintegration support when they complete the program.

For probation referrals, young women must have probation orders that direct them to attend a full-time alcohol and drug treatment program. The order must be long enough to see them through the six-month program.

We also accept private referrals from parents, social workers, community-based addiction counsellors and other professionals. Please contact us to discuss the circumstances and needs of the young woman you want to refer, and to make arrangements.
