Mission Literacy in Motion

Statement of Purpose

We believe improved literacy skills improves quality of life for individuals and the community. Therefore, our purpose is to promote the growth of literacy in our community.

Definition of Literacy

Literacy is the ability to identify, understand, interpret, create, communicate and compute, using printed and written materials associated with varying contexts. Literacy involves a continuum of learning in enabling individuals to achieve their goals, to develop their knowledge and potential, and to participate fully in their community and wider society. (Programme for the International Assessment of Adult Competencies, Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development, 2013).
