Mission Community Services Society
Our Early Years Programs are available to all families who have children aged 0 to 6 years. The Programs and activities at the MCSS Early Years Centre are designed to support and empower families through educational and cultural experiences, and early learning development of children’s social, emotional, physical and cognitive needs. The nurturing and encouragement a child receives in the first 6 years of his or her life has a huge impact throughout the rest of their lives. Our goal is to grow a confident and resourceful parent community where healthy families grow and flourish.

Child Care Resource and Referral (CCRR)
The CCRR program supports families with referrals, subsidy assistance, parenting information and workshops. Childcare providers are supported with referrals, professional development, networking opportunities, information, outreach, and consultation services. Childcare providers are also able to borrow from the Toy Lending Library which includes monthly theme kits. For more information about the CCRR program visit www.ccrr.bc.ca. CCRR is funded by the Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD).
Toy Lending Library
Our Toy Lending Library is stocked with high-quality educational and interactive toys and games. Those families who are registered with the Early Years Centre are able to borrow toys for up to three weeks to enjoy at home. The Toy Lending Library is open Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings from 9:00-11:30am. Funded by MCFD and The Community Action Program for Children (CAPC).
Community Drop-ins
Excellent venues for meeting friends. Drop-ins provide opportunities for your child to interact with others while developing social skills. Parents benefit from meeting other parents and sharing information and support. We welcome all parents/caregivers with children 0-6 years of age. Funded by MCFD.
Keep Calm and Parent On
This program meets once a week from 5pm-7pm and offers parent support, parenting information, guest speakers and includes a light dinner. Free child-minding is available. Keep Calm and Parent On is funded by CAPC.
Nobody’s Perfect- Discover Positive Ways of Parenting
An interactive parenting program for families with children aged 0-5. Meet with other parents of young children and share questions, concerns and ideas about being a parent. Learn about child development, health and behavior. Work together with the support of two trained facilitators. Nobody’s Perfect is funded by Fraser Health. Free childminding and a light dinner is provided.
M.O.M.S. Group (Moms Offering Motivation and Support)
A program for young parents with children aged 0-6. Wednesday mornings from 10am-12pm.. This program includes free child-minding. Presented in partnership with Mission Community Services Society and Womens Resource Society. Funded by CAPC.
Mother Goose
A fun and interactive program for parents and their children aged 0-23 months. Enjoy learning new rhymes, songs and stories to share with your child. Mother Goose runs for 10 weeks per group. Provided in partnership with MCSS and Mission Literacy in Motion. Funded by CAPC.
It’s A Small World
A bi-weekly program for parents who are new to Canada. This group offers information, support and a place to make new friends. This program runs from 10am-12pm every other Monday and includes light refreshments and free child-minding. Facilitated by Annie Charker Triple P Parenting A parent education program for parents of children aged 2-12 years. This program runs for 8 weeks approx. three times a year. Light refreshments and free child-minding are provided. Funded by MCFD

| Mission Community Services Society provides safe housing and support services at Rivendell for up to 44 men and women who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. | Mission Community Services Society Mission Better at Home provides non-medical services to assist seniors with simple day-to-day tasks so they can continue to live independently in their own homes and stay connected to their communities. Better at Home is funded by the Province of British Columbia and managed by the United Way of the Lower Mainland. |
| An old saying “How you bend the twig is how the tree goes” reflects the mentoring and education required for youth on their journey to adulthood. Mission Community Services Society team of Youth Workers offer important intervention that can make a world of difference. Youth who have more tools in their tool box can make better life choices. A range of support is available for youth ages 13 to 24. |
| For as long as Mission Community Services has existed, its food centre has actively served in feeding those who are hungry. Now four decades later the centre is creating for its clients pre-made hampers, bags of food containing soup, canned fruit, vegetables and tuna, pasta and pasta sauce as staples. |
| Need help filing Your Personal Tax Return? A volunteer from Mission Community Services Society, trained by the Canada Revenue Agency, will help prepare & electronically file (if eligible). |
| Mission Community Services Society directly engages with those who are homeless through an outreach program which bridges the gaps and creates awareness of services available to them. Our outreach worker works with the homeless for MCSS and says networking, advocacy and working in conjunction with the District of Mission, RCMP and Mission Friendship Centre are all part of the program. We also help people who are homeless with advocating for benefits, with medical requirements and dealing with forms. |
| Mission Community Services Society is part of a BC-wide initiative that is aimed at providing at-risk groups with rental supplements to make renting in the private market more accessible. This program is called the Homeless Prevention Program and is facilitated by an outreach worker. Mission youth who are at-risk, women fleeing violence, people leaving corrections/hospital and people from the aboriginal community in finding and maintaining housing in the private market. As an outreach worker she works diligently alongside other community resources to ensure that the population she supports are having their needs met and are able to maintain their housing. While the primary objective of the Homeless Prevention Program is to provide rental supplements, our worker is ready and willing to assist someone in need with anything that is housing-related. |

At Mission Community Services Society we are a team of professional staff and volunteers led by a Board of Directors dedicated to supporting our residents to achieve or maintain their sense of independence. |
| Focusing on young, new or low income parents, the Early Years department provides a variety of support and educational services. This department works with provincial programs, such as the Community Action Program for Children and the Child Care Resource and Referral Program. |
| The newcomer settlement department at Mission Community Services Society (MCSS) is committed to welcoming newcomers and promoting cultural diversity in the District of Mission. We are dedicated to building a smooth, safe, and successful transition for all individuals new to Canada. Our goal is to eliminate settlement barriers and develop opportunities for new Canadians to create a quality life in Canada. |
| Lunch With A Bunch serves up hot food and good times on the third Thursday of every month and occasionally diners are joined by a guest speaker or live entertainment. Venue is Carrington House on Seventh Ave. Start time is 11:30 am. $10 fee. Register by calling 604-826-3634. |
| Meals on Wheels provides low-cost, hot, noon-time meals delivered by volunteers every Monday, Wednesday and Friday except on stat holidays. On Fridays, frozen meals are also available on order. Each meal consists of soup and crackers, entrée, salad and dessert. |
| Transportation to medical appointments are available to seniors. Screened volunteers provide transportation services from Mission to as far east as Chilliwack and as far west as Vancouver. |
